Tonight I saw one of the coolest things ever.
I was in a McDonald’s here in Brick around 8:30 p.m. picking up a doordash order and the place was bonkers.
There were about five other dashers waiting on their orders and a few other customers and you can tell the staff was overwhelmed.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a short Latino man standing near the register waving his hands trying to get the manager’s attention.
Assuming the manager like I did thought he was looking for something like extra ketchup or something he didn’t acknowledge the man.
Finally the man got the attention of one of the female employees there and began saying to her in Spanish that he wanted to talk to the manager because he used to be an employee at another McDonald’s and he can help.
When the young lady was timidly trying to explain to the manager with the man was saying the man started yelling to the manager in English “Do you need help? Do you need help?”
At this point the manager finally acknowledged the man and gave him the go-ahead to come behind the counter.
Immediately he began grabbing the tickets off of the board placing them on bags and shouting the orders back to the kitchen.
Within about 6 minutes or so the bulk of the crowd had dwindled down to just a few, I had gotten my order, and what’s even more impressive is that many of the employees that you didn’t even see working behind the counter before now were up front visible to everyone and all working as a team.
Needless to say this is not the type of thing you would generally expect to see in a McDonald’s from one of the employees let alone someone who appeared to be just a customer or an ex-employee and who didn’t speak English very well.
With all the negativity out there seeing this take place this evening was a refreshing thing to watch manifest to say the least and that’s why I wanted to share it here.
Sometimes all it takes is one small act of care to spread to the other people around and go up like a wildfire.
Remember that shit.
